On the “My info” page you can edit all settings regarding your account, you can:

• change login
• change password
• change e-mail address
• change first name and last name
• upload or change your avatar (image)

Using your fluxiom dropbox

Your fluxiom dropbox is a great way to fully replace traditional FTP servers. It allows any user who knows the address of the form to upload files directly into your fluxiom account, along with comments for easy organisation. As a SPAM-deterrent, users will be asked to confirm their email address before files appear in your account — and count towards your storage quota.

Activate/deactivate the API

The API allows programmers to access/read/write fluxiom data from third-party systems like the free fluxiom download widget.

How to change your credit card information

You can change the credit card information used by going to the “Account” tab and selecting “Credit card”. Note: Only the account owner can change the credit card information.

If you need to cancel your account, login to your fluxiom account click on the “account” tab and select “settings”.

Note: Only the account holder can cancel the account. The fluxiom account holder is the person who originally set up your fluxiom account.

Change the account holder

The fluxiom account holder is the person who originally set up your fluxiom account. The account holder is the only person that can access the “Account” page, upgrade, downgrade, change billing information, access invoices, and cancel the account.

You can change the account holder by selecting the “Account” tab and clicking on “Account holder”.

Upgrade/downgrade our account

Changing your plan is easy. Login to your fluxiom account, go to the “Account” tab and select “Settings”. Note: Only the account owner can upgrade or downgrade the account.

Scroll down to the “Upgrade/Downgrade this Account” section.

Put your assets on stage

With the new version of fluxiom, we want to introduce a new powerful feature to you: Stages.

“Putting your assets on stage” means giving a client restricted access to some of your assets. In the following article we’ll give a practical example on what “Stages” are able to do and how to use it.

Using the fluxiom API

The fluxiom API allows developers to hook into fluxiom and connect it to third-party applications.

It can be used for searching assets, retrieving assets and uploading new ones, as well as for querying metadata. Whether you’re planning on linking some internal application to fluxiom, or writing a general plugin for desktop-based software, the API can do it for you. And it’s really easy to boot!

About tagging

A tag is simply a word you use to describe one or more files. tag·ging is a way to organize your files based on what they are tagged with, instead of where they are located in a folder structure. It is like using keywords for files, allowing you to group files together which have something in common.

Tagging is a lot easier and more flexible than fitting your information into preconceived folders—the key is to tag sparingly and with focus, using words that are highly descriptive.

Style your descriptions

fluxiom gives you the ability to style text in several places with Textile a lightweight markup language. You can use textile to highlight text, create links and many more things. You can use textile in the following places:

• to style the description text of an asset (see example below).
• to style the message on a stage.
• to style the message on your public dropbox.

Get notified about new or updated assets

It’s easy to get notified about new assets and modifications to existing ones— fluxiom offers RSS feeds (general information about RSS) to make this possible.

Because using a mouse is not always the fastest way to interact with software, fluxiom comes with keyboard shortcuts that you can use right from your assets view. Shortcuts are always enabled, and there is no particular setting to tweak to benefit from the time savings they will undoubtedly bring to you after just a few tries.

Managing multiple versions of the same files

Versioning in fluxiom allows you to store multiple versions of the same file, making them all appear in your assets view as a single file, all the while retaining the ability to “go back in time” and explore the various alterations that were made to the file over time.

On fluxiom, sharing assets with your colleagues, and setting up a collaborative workflow is a snip. To add a new user to your account, simply log in and click on the “Users” tab: the “New user” button at the bottom of the window is what you are looking for.

One aim of fluxiom is to reduce the time it takes to organize assets, without losing the big picture. It should be possible to store one asset in more than just one place—and this is where tags come in handy…

Assets, selected

fluxiom goes a long a way to provide users with user interface elements they know and love from their desktop applications. Here’s an example from the asset viewer, showing how to use click and drag rubberband selections (you need QuickTime to view the movie):

The asset viewer also recognizes shift-click to select a range of assets and ctrl-click to select multiple individual assets.

And yes, it supports automatic scrolling when you’re extending the rubberband selection near to and beyond the edge of the assets panel.
